Programme objectives
The identification of cancer stem cells (CSC) in hematological disease and in solid tumors, has led to the emergence of a new field in cancer research that is expected to provide insights into oncogenesis and hope for improved survival and cure. Recent research has highlighted the opportunity to target cells of the stem cell's microenvironment. This workshop will provide the latest findings on the microenvironment (bone, vasculature...) of the normal and malignant stem cells and the tools to study the links between the stem cell and the cells of its microenvironment.
Targeted audience
The audience will rely on the close network of clinicians, biologist, researchers and directors of the private sector installed since the previous meetings, the FP7 EuroCSCT network and increased by the enhanced interest in the field.
