Second ESMINT Congress

Congrès médical/Evénement qui aura lieu le : 2010-09-09 : Spécialité: Neurochirurgie

Dear Colleagues,
Dear Friends,

The second ESMINT Congress will be held in Nice, from September 9 to 11, 2010!

I remind you that the goal of the ESMINT Congress is to gather neuroradiologists neurosurgeons and neurologists and discuss indications, strategies, new techniques and news devices, difficult cases and morbi-mortality as well as research and protocols concerning endovascular treatment of neurovascular diseases.

Like last year we will have:

* Controversies by two invited speakers of opposite opinions
* How I do it sessions
* Many Cases discussions on morbi-mortality
* The best success of the year! A lesson or technique to learn!
* The worse complication of the year! The big mistakes to avoid!
* A review of the main ongoing or achieved series!
* A scientific lecture on cerebral perfusion imaging

Just as a draft I propose the following controversies:

* How often should we use the remodelling technique, always, almost always or only in specific indications?
* Flow dynamic modelization: is it useful for clinical practice?
* Should we use stents in ruptured aneurysms?
* Flow diverters or homemade Flow diverters with multiple stents?
* Benign Intracranial Hypertension: Should we Stent or not?

A session will be dedicated to Flow diverters and panelists will have to answer the following questions:

* Risk of rupture of unruptured aneurysms after FD: Should we coil before using a FD?
* Risk of perforators occlusion?
* Should we use FD in bifurcations?
* Risk of acute and delayed aneurysm thrombosis and complications?
* How much should we divert the flow (on which evidence)?

A review of the main ongoing or achieved series!

* TEAM is dead, is ARUBA still alive?
* Bioactive coils: something new? Any reason to use them?
* Should we trust the results of Helps? Should we use only Hydrocoils?
* Carotid stenting: When do complications occur, before during or after stenting? A meta-analysis of the 3 European Studies!
* Presentation of results on FD ongoing or achieved studies

Guidelines for patient selection for IA acute stroke treatment: In absence of any Evidence Based Medicine, how to select candidates for IA recanalization?

Cases discussions on morbi-mortality: Aneurysms, AVM, AVF, Stroke, IC stenting, cerebral venous thrombosis, miscellaneous...

Usual communications concerning case series or clinical trials will not be accepted!

On the contrary we would like participants to show interesting or challenging cases. To present complications, discuss strategy, indication and technique. Participants will be asked to send just the title of the case presentation and power point file.

This congress must be as much interactive as possible!

I hope this meeting will stimulate discussions, debates and controversies that will open our minds, enlarge our knowledge and eventually influence our practice.

7th International Congress on Mental Dysfunctions & Other Non-Motor features in PARKINSON’S DISEASE

Congrès médical/Evénement qui aura lieu le : 2010-12-09 : Spécialité: Neurochirurgie

Dear Colleagues,

Following the success of the previous meetings on dementia and other cognitive impairments in Parkinson’s disease (and other movement disorders) which were covered in Jerusalem, Amsterdam, Montreal, Salzburg and Dresden, we are now looking forward to our new congress on these topics. The upcoming congress will take place in Barcelona, Spain, 9-12 December, 2010.

Our aim is to discuss the new developments in the understanding of cognitive and psychiatric aspects in Parkinson’s disease and related disorders. During our meeting in Barcelona we shall have an opportunity to deliberate on brain diseases and how they contribute to cognitive decline. We shall try to identify the specific psychological markers, if any, of Parkinson’s dementia and of dementia with Lewy bodies, and also the biochemical and genetic factors involved. The identification of cortical Lewy bodies in recent years has contributed to our understanding but at the same time raised new and still unanswered questions. The overlap with Alzheimer’s disease will be a central issue, as will be the neurochemical changes seen in these disorders.

Delirium, dementia, anxiety and psychosis frequently affect the lives of patients and caregivers even more than motor disturbances, and they therefore deserve special attention.

Besides cognitive impairment, patients with movement disorders frequently complain disturbances of the autonomic nervous system, REM sleep behavior disorders, and hyposmia to name just a few. All these aspects will be discussed in detail.

We encourage you to submit your abstract to the congress, thereby contributing to what we are confident will be a splendid scientific program.

Barcelona, the city of art and culture, will provide an exquisite background for an open exchange of ideas and presentation of new research findings.

We hope that you will participate and join us for the stimulating scientific sessions as well as the special unique charm of Barcelona.

We look forward to meeting you in Barcelona!

Yours Sincerely,
