Over the years, the field of Hematology has undergone enormous expansion in clinical trials and basic research as well as in cutting-edge technology.

The 1st World Congress on Controversies in Hematology (COHEM) will function as an exclusive forum for international experts to share and compare experiences, in order to outline the right treatment for patients.

The concept of this Congress stems from the fact that current congresses fail to promote true clinical discussion between practicing physicians and researchers on unresolved pressing issues.

Participants will have the advantage of discussing and debating these unresolved issues with leading world experts in all fields of Hematology. Allowing ample time for speaker-audience discussion, the Congress aims at reaching up-to-date and agreed-upon answers to ongoing debates even when proof is lacking, through evidence-based medicine and expert opinion.

We invite you to take part in the 1st COHEM Congress which is intended as the inaugural event of many future editions.

Unlike any other cell death conference, the biennial ESH conference on Cell Death and Disease focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to expedite the development of clinical applications of cell death research. This strategy involves designing programs of interest to basic scientists, clinicians, and commercial pharmaceutical and biotechnology investigators.

The meeting is deliberately organized to promote and facilitate scientific interaction and international networking. The conference welcomes about 200 participants from all over the world. On behalf of the International and Local Scientific Committees, I have the great pleasure to invite you to attend the XIth European Symposium on Platelet and Granulocyte Immunobiology to be held in France from October 21st to 24th, 2010.
To celebrate the XX anniversary of this symposium, we have chosen Beaune, Capital of Burgundy wines and City of art, as congress venue.

                                LES JIB 2010, CREATRICES DE PASSERELLES

La 55ème édition des Journées Internationales de Biologie se tiendra au Cnit Paris La Défense les 2, 3, 4 et 5 novembre 2010. Véritable lieu d’échanges en biologie médicale, cet événement annuel se positionne comme créateur de passerelles entre les acteurs du secteur.

• 1 Salon sur 3 jours (3-4-5 novembre 2010) réunit les fournisseurs des laboratoires de biologie médicale (automates, réactifs, informatique, financement, services…). En 2009, ils étaient 176 à exposer sur les JIB pour rencontrer plus de 10 000 visiteurs professionnels (biologistes privés, hospitaliers, techniciens, ingénieurs biomédicaux, chercheurs…).
Le pôle BioMI, Biologie Moléculaire Initiatives, qui fut créé en 2008, continue son développement sur un espace dédié au cœur du salon.
Des nouveautés sont au rendez vous sur cette 55ème édition avec des parcours thématiques pour faciliter le déplacement des visiteurs et des appels à projet sur un pôle Biotech.

• 1 Congrès sur 4 jours (2-3-4-5 novembre 2010) réserve à la profession un programme scientifique de haute qualité avec non seulement un thème spécial « Santé & Environnement : Défis pour la Biologie » visant à mieux appréhender les mécanismes biologiques permettant d’identifier les liens directs de l’environnement sur la santé humaine mais également plusieurs sessions dédiées aux problématiques professionnelles relatives à la réforme de la biologie médicale française en cours. L’Appel à Posters qui a connu un large succès en 2009 est reconduit cette année (deadline : 28 août 2010) avec 3 Prix du Meilleur Poster décernés.

En 2010, les JIB se font accompagnatrices de changements, animatrices d’un marché et révélatrices de savoir-faire.

The aim of Tutorial courses is to offer a un update on technological advances for early diagnosis, preserving a strong link to traditional morphology and histopathology, as well as providing information on new therapeutic strategies.
Courses are organized using three different didactic tools, which are formal lectures, tutored clinical cases and interactive self-evaluation test-cases sessions. Type 1 Tutorials use original material, while Type 2 and Type 3 utilize educational material that has already been presented, updated as necessary.
This Tutorial is a Type 1, which means a new one with lectures and educational material specially prepared; it is focused on Acute Malignancies.
The program will cover the diagnostic pathway from morphology, through flow cytometry and genetics/molecular genetics to clinical and therapeutic aspects of both Myeloid and Lymphoid Acute Malignancies.

Carrefour Pathologie 2010 se déroulera du lundi 22 au vendredi 26 novembre 2010 à la Maison de la Chimie.

Le programme de cette année a été basé en grande partie sur les principales préoccupations professionnelles actuelles de notre discipline, ainsi qu’en fonction de certaines thématiques de recherche en lien direct avec l’exercice de la spécialité. Comme les années précédentes, nous avons essayé d’établir un programme intégrant les différentes attentes des « pathologistes morphologistes » et de celles plus orientées vers la pathologie moléculaire ou les nouvelles technologies mises à disposition dans nos laboratoires. Carrefour Pathologie 2010 continue ainsi à intégrer les différents aspects de notre discipline en pleine mutation. Il est organisé par la SFP, en collaboration avec la SFCC, l’AFAQAP, l’AFIAP, le GPCM, le comité d’interface INSERM, l’ACP France et la Division Française de l’AIP. Cette année un symposium de la SFP sera co-organisé avec la Société Algérienne de Pathologie que nous accueillons.
